Anthony Stokes has been told not to return to Iran by his club FC Persepolis following his arrest at Gatwick Airport.
The Irishman has also been reported to FIFA by the club.
In a statement posted on the club's Facebook page, FC Persepolis revealed they were "no longer looking for the return of this player" following his arrest over allegations of 'stalking' his former partner.
It is understood the former Celtic player was led away from his plane in London by armed police.
Amir Shefizadeh, the manager of the club's Facebook page, claimed the player had not been seen at training for two weeks and had extended a trip to Dubai without permission.

He said the club was considering sacking the forward over a lack of "respect for his contract".
On Monday, Stokes appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court in connection with threatening and harassing messages sent to his former partner.
He pleaded not guilty and was released on bail, awaiting further appearances in April.
