TWO illegal immigrants were yesterday convicted of raping a 29-year-old woman in a Glasgow flat.

The sexual assault took place on January 8 and 9, last year, in a flat in Glasgow's east end.
The court heard that the victim and a woman friend were having a drink in a pub when they met the two accused.
The victim thought she knew one of the men because he resembled an acquaintance who worked in a Glasgow chip shop.
The women chatted with the accused and then the victim's friend invited them back to her house.
At one point the victim went to her bedroom and the two men followed and raped her.
Her friend, who was still in the flat, called the police and they arrived to find the 29-year-old, who was distraught out in the street. Maranaku was still in the flat.

In evidence Maranaku claimed he had consensual sex with the woman. His co-accused said the victim had asked him to take part in a threesome. Both men denied raping the woman.
Mr Mullan added: “It is understood that both men are here illegally in the country.”
Defence counsel Frances Connor, representing Maranaku, said: “He has submitted an application for asylum.”
QC Edward Targowski, representing Baga, said he had also applied for asylum.
Judge Sean Murphy QC placed both accused on the sex offenders' register, deferred sentence on them until later this month and remanded them in custody.
