GLASGOW’S Rogano has been involved in a mystery “transaction” sparking rumours that it may have been bought over or given a cash injection.
The iconic bar and restaurant, which is currently closed due to the coronavirus outbreak, is owned by the Lynett Leisure Group, which runs a string of venues including One Up and Citation.
A spokeswoman for Rogano confirmed that it had been involved in a “transaction that was strictly confidential” and said more detail could be provided on request.
However, no one returned our calls requesting further information about the nature of the transaction.

Built in 1935, Rogano is Glasgow’s oldest surviving restaurant.
In 1935, as the great Cunard liner Queen Mary took shape on the Clyde, a restaurant was refitted in the same art deco style.f
Legend has it that the foremen from the shipyard paid their bar bills at Rogano with burr walnut and bird’s eye maple panelling specified for
the liner.
