THE devastated Lanarkshire-based aunty of a "fit and healthy" 28-year-old man who died after being diagnosed with Coronavirus has urged  the public to heed government advice to stay at home.

Adam Sullivan passed away on Tuesday, just over a week after he reported being unable to breathe and is thought to be one of the youngest victims of Covid-19 in the UK.

He had suffered a chest infection three weeks earlier.

According to family, Adam, who is from London, was seen by a doctor who realised the seriousness of his condition, called an ambulance and he was admitted to University College Hospital with viral pneumonia and put in an induced coma.

His family were told last Wednesday that he had the deadly infection and despite efforts, he passed away yesterday afternoon.

Adam's aunty, Helen, who lives in Airdrie, said his death had left her devastated, particularly as she is unable to travel to London to be with them.

She urged the public to "please, please, please, stay at home."

Paying tribute to Adam she said: "He was very athletic and outgoing and a funny personality he loved his nieces and nephews."

Adam worked as a painter and decorater and had six-year-old son.

Adam's mother Jackie spoke out on Thursday, urging the public to stay at home.

She said: "He went into hospital with viral pneumonia, but other than that he was healthy.

"People have got to start taking this seriously. A lot of people think it’s an old person’s disease – but look what has happened to Adam.”

It emerged earlier this week that a 21-year-old woman with no underlying conditions died after contracting coronavirus.

Chloe Middleton, from High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, passed away last week.

In a Facebook post, her aunt Emily Mistry said Ms Middleton "had passed away from Covid-19" and urged others to "do your bit" to stop the spread of the disease.
