ALL essential workers in Glasgow can park for free at NCP car parks from today.

Spaces at Central Station, George Street, Mitchell Street and The Glasshouse car park will be completely free for all workers needing to access them during the coronavirus pandemic.

It comes after NCP's announcement on Friday to provide free parking to NHS staff in over 150 of their facilities.

Now, in light of the Prime Minister’s announcement to impose a lockdown, all the city centre car parks will remain open and free for all workers who are needing to be at work at this time.

It means those identified as "key, essential workers" can arrive and exit without charge.

CEO at NCP, Jonathan Scott, said: “We’re open where we can for all who need parking at this vital time.

"Please park with us at no charge.  We hope this goes some way to helping all those who are still needing to work and care for people.

"We urge you to check on our website to make sure the car park you normally visit is still open as although most of our sites are, we are still having to close some down where landlords request that we do.

"We hope you all stay safe and well."

NCP advises all workers to check their website - www.ncp.co.uk - ahead of visiting car parks to ensure they are included in the scheme - as only the facilities where NCP controls the pricing is included.

Car parks in the likes of airports and shopping centres may not be included as they are subject to landlord decisions in those areas.
