BLACKMAILERS are threatening to release personal details unless money is handed over, according to cops.
Police Scotland said their control rooms were flooded on Friday with worried members of the public reporting the e-mail scam.
The force urged the public not to pay any demands.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: "We have taken multiple calls about an e-mail scam.
"Recipients have received emails threatening to release personal details if a demand is not paid.
"Do not communicate and do not pay any demands."
