CELTIC Football Club have lead tributes to a missing fan who is believed to have died.

The club said they were saddened to hear of the passing of Joseph Duffy.

Joseph had been reported missing from his Newlands home on Friday night and various appeals were made on social media over his whereabouts.

Police Scotland confirmed that they were actively looking for him and had been conducting a search.

In a statement, Celtic said: "We are saddened to hear of the passing of Celtic FC fan Joseph Duffy. The thoughts and prayers from everyone at the club are with Joseph’s family and friends at this difficult time."

His fiancee Jennifer Abdullah paid tribute to her 'big bear'

She said: "I am broken! You were my world, soul mate and best friend!

"You made me the happiest girl alive, especially through my hard times.

"I have never met the most genuine, loving, happiest guy who has shown me how to love.

"Our time was short but it has been the most happiest time of my life.

"I will love you always and forever my angel. Love you."

His sister Christina Cowie said she was 'absolutely heart broken'.

She added: "I am absolutely heart broken and devastated to say my wonderful amazing kind brother has sadly been found and is no longer with us.

"He was just the best person ever and I can’t even begin to think about life without him.

"I love you more than you’ll ever know Joe, miss you always, give daddy and uncle frank a big kiss from me.

"We, as a family would also like to thank everyone for their continuous support, shares and searches carried out. We are so grateful for it all.

"Rest easy Joe! You’re at peace now."
