A DRIVER from Glasgow has been fined after being caught flouting lockdown measures - to buy a new car.
This is yet another case highlighted by Cumbria Road Policing unit south of the border, who repeatedly catch motorists flouting the restrictions.
They say the man was driving from Glasgow to Stafford to pick up a new car - which is an eight hour, or 500-mile, round trip.
They say the man admitted it was not an essential journey and a fixed penalty notice was issued.

On Tuesday, a driver was reported after making an almost 300-mile trip to Glasgow to collect a designer bag.
The motorist was travelling from Birmingham to the city centre to retrieve the Dior bag, marking a trip of around 260 miles.
And just the day before, a disqualified driver was caught making a trip from London to Glasgow in the middle of the night.
