PLANS have been submitted for a 121-home development on the former Larkfield bus depot site in Govanhill.

The project is a partnership between Link Group and Govanhill Housing Association.

It would include one block of flats for retirement living and four "elderly amenity" blocks at the corner of Butterbiggins and Victoria Road.

The majority of the former bus depot site is currently being developed by Link in partnership with Ashleigh, with 186 flats for mid-market rent expected to be completed next year.

Link is also behind plans to develop a children's home on the site for Glasgow City Council.

A planning report states: "The development of the site offers the chance to finally complete the missing corner of this revitalised residential area."

The retirement living block is aimed at people over 60 who are able to live independently. "This can include people who are looking to downsize or people who are looking to move to a community of a similar age," the plans state.

Most of the flats will be two-bedroom and the block will have lift access and a common room.
