Steven Gerrard has revealed Rangers are looking at 'numerous' transfer targets to help strengthen his side as they bid to outmuscle Celtic for the Premiership title this season.
Gers have a tough job ahead of them to wrestle the league away from their rivals and Gerrard knows he has to bring in a few new faces to help with the task at hand. The coronavirus pandemic has made issues even more complicated in terms of recruitment but the manager is confident he can still get some business done.
"We're still chasing targets behind the scenes," he told Rangers TV. "We've got numerous targets that we want to bring in to strengthen us and help us over the course of next season. Without giving too much information away it's exciting times to be at Rangers."
Gerrard's players have been back in training this week in smaller groups and in line with social distancing measures but the boss can't wait to get things back to as close to normal as possible with bigger numbers.
He also expressed his excitement at being able to confirm pre-season friendlies as soon as possible ahead of the scheduled August 1 league restart.
"The plan for us is to get back to normality as quickly as possible," he added. "We're all aware that's what the players want, it's what we want, it's what we're used to in our normal routine, is to come in and train with the full group and go full contact, and really make it game tempo, match tempo.
"In terms of the fans we want to give them some news in terms of friendlies on the horizon. We know they want to watch the team, they've missed it like we have ourselves. Hopefully in the coming days and weeks we'll announce some friendly matches."
