TWO families are launching landmark legal action against a Glasgow care home where their relatives died of suspected coronavirus, according to reports. 

Helen Smith and Helen McMillan's death certificates cite the cause as “presumed Covid”.

Almond Court home is now being accused of accountability over the pensioners’ deaths in what is believed to be the first case of its kind in Scotland.

If the action is successful it could open the floodgates for hundreds of other legal claims.

Both families allege the care home in Drumchapel failed to carry out proper testing of its residents and staff, and that workers did not have proper PPE.

Mrs Smith's son, George Hillhouse, told the Scottish Mail on Sunday: "They left my mum to suffer. I want someone to be accountable for her death.

"It is not about money. I want action taken against those who neglected my mum."

Both families have instructed families to investigate and prepare cases against Almond Court.

Holmes Care, which runs the home, said: "The welfare of residents is ouor foremost priority and we are doing everything we can to keep them safe.

"It would not be appropriate to comment on the decisions around end of life medication."
