AN East End footballer has coined in thousands of pounds for a mental health charity.
St Roch’s FC player Aaron Connolly ran four miles every four hours over the weekend to raise cash for Time to Tackle.
Connolly, who has shared his experience of a suicide attempt in a bid to help others, smashed his original fundraising target of £200 after supporters pledged more than £1500 to the cause.
Speaking after completing the challenge on Sunday, Connolly, left, said: “Thanks to everyone for all of the messages of support.
“They pushed me over the line.
“Thank you to everyone for the donations so far. They mean the world to us.
“We started Time to Tackle to give people a safe place to talk.”
St Roch’s wrote on Twitter: “Incredible. Well done to Aaron Connolly. A tremendous ambassador for Time to Tackle.”
