A CITY pizza parlour is closing after two years citing the coronavirus pandemic as the reason.
Romans Pizzeria and Bar announced the news on social media yesterday.
In a statement, the Merchant City eatery said: "It is with a heavy heart that we must announce that Roman's Pizzeria and Bar will not be reopening its doors.
"Sadly with the extensions of the initial lockdown period and the effects of Covid-19, the difficulties we would face reopening became a harsh reality.
"These worries compounded the challenges any new restaurant faces and unfortunately it is not feasible for us to reopen."
The firm thank customers for their support and promised that they would be sourcing a new location to offer a pizza takeaway service.
Devastated fans of the pizza place expressed their shock over the decision.
Mary-Anne Gallagher said: "Really gutted for you guys. My favourite restaurant to visit when in Glasgow. Wishing you luck in the future."
Nicole Gardner said: "My plan was to take my mates from Edinburgh here the second we were able to. Will still get takeaway but will really miss the vibe of the place to sit down for lunch."
Kelly James said: "So sorry to hear this. A sad day for the Merchant City."
