DETECTIVES have said a deliberate fire at a business in Alexandria was targeted.

A probe was launched after the fire at the premises on North Street on Thursday around 11.30 pm. 

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended and safely extinguished the fire and there were no injuries.

Detective Constable Ross Kelly, of Clydebank CID, said: “We believe this to be a targeted incident and are treating the fire as deliberate.

“Thankfully nobody has been injured and we are looking to identify those involved in this reckless act.

“We are looking to speak to anyone who has any information or noticed anyone acting suspicious in the area to get in contact with police.

“I would also appeal to anyone that has any dashcam or CCTV footage of the area to speak to officers.

“Police can be contacted on 101 quoting incident number 0034 of Friday, 17 July, 2020.”
