IT'S been at the heart of our city from the beginning and is no stranger to the weird and wonderful of Glasgow.

But, the River Clyde can still throw up a surprise or two and it's done just that for locals this afternoon.

Punters have taken to social media to complain after a mystery boat went "absolutely crazy" with its horn on the waterway.

One local in Kightswood said: "There is a boat going absolutely crazy with its horn on the Clyde

"It’s been going non stop for the last ten minutes. Is this normal boat behaviour?"

Another added: "It's doing my head in. It sounds like they’re just doing it for the craic rather than as a signal."

One said: "Lots of ships horns on the Clyde at Scotstoun."

A cargo ship has passed through in the last few hours from Antwerp, Belgium, but it's not believed to be behind the racket.

The mystery comes a month after Glaswegians flocked to the river to spot two cruise liners as they passed by.

An empty ship, Azamara Quest, made its way up to King George V Dock in Shieldhall in June.

Worth about £150 million, the vessel is understood to only have an essential crew on board but can usually carry around 700 passengers.

It was the second ship to make its way up the Clyde as cruise holidays have been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Azamara Pursuit docked in Shiedhall on June 1.
