Emergency services have been rushed to Argyle Street where fire crews are currently attending an incident related to smoke.
Fire crews were called to Glasgow Central Low Level after reports of smoke coming from a lift motor room.
A section of road between Hope Street and Renfield Street has been closed off to all traffic.
Glasgow City Council's Traffic and Information Bulletin reads: "Argyle Street has been closed to all traffic between Hope Street and Renfield Street.
"Fire Brigade appliances are on site."
A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “We were alerted at 9.29am on Friday, July 31 to reports of smoke from a lift motor room at Glasgow Central Low Level, Argyle Street, Glasgow.
“Operations Control mobilised two appliances to the scene, where crews remain in attendance".
