A section of Buchanan Street has been closed off as emergency workers have responded to an ongoing incident.
A cleansing team from Glasgow City Council have taken urgent action after a delivery van suffered a burst pipe earlier this afternoon, resulting in an oil spillage along the city centre street.
Workers have been spotted cleansing the ground along Buchanan Street behind a cordon. White granules have been laid down to prevent pedestrians from slipping.
An eyewitness told the Glasgow Times: "Workers at the scene appear to be scrubbing the street after an oil spill from one of the restaurants."
Glasgow City Council will remove the granules later today once the oil is absorbed.
