A second bar in Shettleston has temporarily closed after a customer visited with confirmed coronavirus

The Portland Arms along Shettleston Road announced today it will be closing temporarily after a customer with the virus visited the premises yesterday (Wednesday).

It comes one day after another bar on the same street, The Kirkhouse Bar and Kitchen, announced it would also be temporarily closing after they suffered a similar COVID-19 incident.

A Test and Trace programme has since begun to identify other customers at both of the units, who will be advised to self-isolate for two weeks.

Members of staff at the Portland Arms have since been tested for the virus - where all negative results returned.

The Shettleston bar has since closed in order to conduct a deep clean. They hope to reopen this evening.

A statement reads: "We would like to notify customers that we have been informed that a customer who visited us last Wednesday has tested positive for Covid19.

"We are contacting the relevant people to inform them of the situation and for them to contact the government track and trace program.

"Despite the guidelines stating we do not need to close the premises, we have taken the decision to temporarily close in order to deep clean the pub.

"All relevant staff have been tested, with negative results.

"Our aim is to have the premise reopened by tonight but we will do our best to keep you all informed.

"Safety of our staff and customers is the priority."
