A third suspect has been charged in connection with the death of a Kirkintilloch man. 

As previously reported, Robert Cunningham, 29, was seriously assaulted at a flat in Braehead Street in Kirkintilloch on Saturday morning.

He was then taken to hospital, where he passed away on Monday 25 August. 

Two men, aged 28 and 31, were charged, with a third man, aged 34, now also charged in connection with the incident.

The 28-year-old and 31-year-old appeared at Glasgow Sherriff Court today, with the third suspect expected to appear at the court tomorrow. 

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Police Scotland can confirm that a third man has been charged in connection with the death of a man in Kirkintilloch.

"Robert Cunningham, 29, died on Monday, 25 August after the incident within a property on Braehead Street in the town on Saturday, 22 August.

"A 34-year-old man has now been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Wednesday, 26 August.

"Two men - aged 31 and 28 - were previously charged and appeared in court on Tuesday, 25 August."
