Drumchapel-born James McAvoy is set to narrate a brand new reality show which will see contestants compete to build a bridge to reach a jackpot prize. 

'The Bridge', created by Channel 4, will feature 12 contestants working together to complete a structure in the British countryside, with hopes of reaching a £100k prize. 

The X-Men star has signed on to narrate the reality show, which with see the group will work to contruct a bridge in 20 days to reach the island 250 metres away.

Steve Handley, commissioning editor at Channel 4 said: “Filmed in the backdrop of the wide open spaces of the glorious UK countryside that many of us have been dreaming of in recent months this entertaining and utterly engaging new reality series is bound to start many conversations about just how far we would each go to secure £100k.” 

Warren Smith, executive producer for Workerbee said: “After months of lockdown, a group of strangers have come together to tackle an intense challenge. We aim to find out whether they will work in harmony or will ruthless behaviour play a part in securing the £100,000 winnings?"

The reality show has already been a hit in Europe, with versions airing in Spain and France.

The five-part Channel 4 series will air later this year.
