A MYSTERY helicopter spooked Glasgow residents by flying low over the city before midnight.
Social media was flooded with comments last night about the mystery aircraft with some residents suggesting two Chinook helicopters were on a military exercise.
A Glasgow Times reader, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "The noise woke me up and I went to my window because the helicopter felt so low.
"It flew over King's Park and headed towards Shawlands with just one light.
"I had no idea what it was."
One resident in the Dennistoun area took to a community page on Facebook.
He said: "Anyone else witness the two helicopters flying over Glasgow just now 23.25.
"No lights except one had a low tail flashlight and were 200 ft apart from one above the other, sounded like army Chinooks."
One local replied: "They were two Chinooks, one on top of the other. The lower one had the white light blinking away."
Another said: "Heard it in Stepps, thought it was landing with the noise."
One resident said in the Cathcart community Facebook page: "Feels like they are landing in my garden."
Others took to Twitter to question the unusual late-night flight.
