Two teenagers were attacked by a group of thugs on Friday night.
The 15 and 16-year-old boys were walking on a footpath on Glasgow Road, Dumbarton around 9.30pm.
They were near Dumbarton East train station when they were attacked by a group of people.
One of the boys was taken the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital to be treated for a serious head injury.

The suspects are described as males, wearing dark hoodies or jackets, one was wearing a navy blue Lacoste tracksuit, and all had masks on.
Detective Constable Susanne Church from Clydebank CID said: “We are appealing for the public’s help in tracing those responsible for this attack.
“A lady stepped in to help the boys and stopped the assault.
"We ask her, and anyone else who saw what happened, to contact us via 101 quoting incident 3869 of September 11 2020.”
