THE transformation of historic stables into new homes in the city centre has scooped a prestigious design award.
Judges at the Scottish Design Awards were wowed by the Wheatley Group development of the historic Bell Street Stables.
The Merchant City transformation was crowned as the winner in the Affordable Housing Category at the ceremony.
The development, which saw GHA and Lowther Homes convert a stable block that was once the home of working horses belonging to the city's cleansing department, also won a commendation in the Building Reuse category.
The £7million development saw the historic B listed building transformed into 52 new flats for mid-market rent.
The awards celebrate the best architecture and design projects in Scotland and showcase the value of creativity and design.
