THE sister of a man abused while playing for Celtic’s feeder team has told of her “anger” following the delay of an official report by football authorities.

Michelle Gray, whose brother Andrew was targeted by Celtic Boys Club coach Jim Torbett, says it is the eighth time the Scottish FA has postponed the release of an investigation into sexual abuse.

The report was initially due to be released in June 2018 and its latest delay has provoked frustration from survivors.

Ms Gray said: “I can’t understand and can’t believe that they continue to delay this and kick the ball up the park without having a grain of thought for what it does to victims, survivors and their loved ones.

“We haven’t been privy and we don’t know what Andrew told the SFA about the abuse he suffered.

“The SFA just think this is acceptable and they will keep giving us a date and then delay it.”

Ms Gray, who was speaking on the Celtic Boys Club Scandal podcast with journalist Adrian Goldberg, added: “Everyone is kept in limbo and we are just waiting. The SFA holds all the cards and it is just appalling. We have been told eight times the report is getting published, only for it not to happen.”

Patrick McGuire, a partner with Thompsons solicitors working with six survivors of abuse by Scottish FA officials, said: “The continued delays and excuses by the SFA for not publishing its own report into historic child abuse in Scottish football are simply inexcusable.

“Perhaps it’s time for the Scottish Government to impress upon the SFA the need for this report to be made public now in its original form without edit or redaction.”

The Glasgow Times contacted the Scottish FA for comment.
