A shopkeeper has been left "badly shaken" after being threatened with an "offensive weapon" in a robbery.
Police were called to the One-o-One store on Aitkenhead Road at 4.30pm yesterday after the culprit fled the scene, making off with a three-figure sum of cash.
The employee wasn't injured as a result of the incident, however she has been left badly shaken by the ordeal.
Police Scotland are now conducting door-to-door enquiries and checking CCTV footage for any additional information as they work to trace those responsible.
The suspect is described as being white, around 5 ft.8 inches in height with an average build. He was wearing a dark blue hooded top with white writing and a logo on the front, dark, coloured trousers and dark, coloured shoes. He was also wearing a white face mask at the time of the robbery and spoke with a local accent.
He fled the scene by running off and up Aikenhead Road in the direction of Brannan Square.
Detective Sergeant Scott McNulty said: “Our enquiries so far have shown the suspect hanging around outside the store prior to the robbery taking place.
"I am appealing to people who was in the area around the time of the incident to contact us. In particular, I would ask motorists with dash cams to check their footage as it could have captured images which could assist in our investigation.”
