A RACIST hurled vile abuse at his neighbour amid claims he bothered his pregnant partner.

Robert Muir, 30, called Evance Mtwali “a monkey” and “a black b******” at his flat in Glasgow’s Maryhill last September.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard Muir had gone to confront Mr Mtwali.

Muir yelled: “Open the door and speak to me like a man.”

He then made the racist remarks.

Prosecutor Cavan Ryan-Hume said Muir was later held before claiming: “Sorry, I probably blacked out.”

He pleaded guilty to acting in a racially aggravated manner intended to cause alarm and distress to Mr Mtwali.

His lawyer Michael McKeown told the court: “His pregnant partner was upset as Mr Mtwali had been at the door a couple of times asking for cigarettes and alcohol.”

The hearing was also told Muir already had a previous conviction for making remarks to an Irish police officer about his background while being arrested.

Sentence was deferred until next month for background reports by Sheriff Sean Murphy QC.

Muir was remanded in custody.
