NICOLA Sturgeon has confirmed Glasgow and ten other areas will move out of level four lockdown on Friday.

She said the number of cases has been reducing and a decision on what level the city will go into will be made and announced tomorrow.

Ms Sturgeon said the first supplies of the Pfizer vaccine have been received and delivered to locations across the country ready to be given to the first people on Tuesday.

However, she said: "It doesn't remove the need for caution over the winter period." 

She urged people to "pay even more atention to the rules and guidelines".

The First Minister said current levels have undoubtedly helped reduce rates of the virus.

Ms Sturgeon said: "The number of new cases has been falling for the last few weeks, That includes reductions in the 11 areas in level four.

"Those areas will move out of level four on Friday. Cabinet will take decision tomorrow on what level they move into."

However, she added: "We will continue to take a cautious and careful approach."

Ms Sturgeon gave the updated statistics for coronavirus.

There was one death registered of a person who had tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 28 days.

There were 677 new positive cases recorded across Scotland, 178 were in Greater Glasgow and Clyde 103 in Lanarkshire.

There were 974 people in hospital with coronavirus an increase of 23  and there were 59 in intensive care, down 3 .
