Coronavirus cases in Glasgow have fallen to their lowest in ten weeks.

The latest weekly data shows that for the first time since September, there were fewer than 1000 positive cases recorded over a seven day period.

The latest figures from Public Health Scotland show that for the week up to December 4 there were 951 positive tests recorded in the city.

It is down from 1407 positive cases two weeks earlier.

It is the lowest in the city since September 23.

On the day it was confirmed that Glasgow will move out of level four lockdown on Friday, the rate per 100,000 population, a key indicator used by the government when deciding on which level of lockdown an area should be in, also reduced from 222 per 100,000 two weeks ago, to 150 per 100,000 on December 4.

The First Minister confirmed that Glasgow would move out of Level four lockdown along with he ten other areas in the same position.

However, she said a cautious approach was necessary and it was likely that only a move to level three was possible.

In Glasgow the area with the highest number of cases in the last seven day period was Pollok South and west with 26 positive cases.

It was followed by Pollokshields East with 23 and then Ibrox East and Cessnock at 21 were the only areas with more than 20 cases reported.

The other highest areas were Pollokshields West on 20, Govanhill East/Aikenhead, Maxwell Park and Shettleston South, all with 19 cases.

Cranhill had 18 cases and the top ten highest areas were made up with Mosspark and Pollok North and East on 16

There were no areas that recorded zero but there were many were the number was between one and four.

The areas that recorded the lowest rate of positive cases ,shown the palest blue on the map, were Calton and Gallowgate, Carmunnock South, Petershill, Shawlands West and Summerston North all with fewer than five and a rate per 100,000 of population on between 15 and 29.

The next lowest areas on a rate of between 30 and 49, also with fewer than five cases, shown as the darker blue, were Barmulloch, Braidfauld, Cardonald North, Drumry East, Firhill, Greenfield, Hillhead, Kingspark South , Maryhill West, Springburn East and Cowlairs and Summerston Central and West.

There were another 11 areas shown in yellow that were between 50 and 74 cases per 100,000.

And there were 13 areas with between 75 and 99 cases, shown as orange on the map.

The rest of the city, still the majority of areas had a rate of more than 100 per 100 ,000 shown as red.
