A manager for the firm which owns the van was on the scene arranging for the van to be removed.
He told the Glasgow Times that the driver of the van was uninjured.
No one is believed to have been hurt but officers remain on the scene.
The road was closed as emergency services respond and drivers were told to expect delays in the busy area, close to the Gorbals and the M8 slip road.
The vehicles have now been recovered and the road is open, Glasgow city council has confirmed.
