VISITORS to a popular park will now be able to top up their water bottles when they are out and about.
Scottish Water has launched it’s 31st Top Up Tap at Rouken Glen Park in Giffnock. The water fountain means that park users can fill up reusable water bottles when they are on the go.
The move is part of Scottish Water’s Your Water Your Life campaign which encourages people to use reusable bottles and drink tap water as often as possible.
East Renfrewshire Council’s Environment Convener, Councillor Alan Lafferty, said: “This is a really great addition for everyone who visits Rouken Glen. The park welcomes hundreds of thousands of people annually and this year it played an even more important role in providing people a safe space for fresh air and exercise, so I am pleased that this free water facility is now in place.”
Georgina Reid from Scottish Water said: “Georgina Reid, Scottish Water’s corporate affairs regional manager, said: “We’re pleased that one of our Scottish Water Top up Taps has joined a long list of facilities already on offer at this much-loved park. “
The new water fountain will be cleaned, disinfected and maintained as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Scottish Water are aiming to build 40 more refill points across Scotland by March 2021.
