A TOP cop has blasted leaky Glaswegians who have relieved themselves more than 18,000 times in the city’s streets in the last four years.
Official police figures obtained by the Glasgow Times show people were caught short on 18,129 occasions with the city centre hardest hit by the offence. Baillieston saw the fewest reports to cops for public urination.
Now, one of the city’s top officers has called the figures “unacceptable” and urged people to be considerate.
Superintendent Ross Allan, based at Stewart Street police station, said: “Anti-social behaviour of any kind is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
“Officers would ask that people have consideration for their own actions and advise that anyone who is found urinating in a public place may be issued with a fixed penalty notice.
“Anyone who wishes to report incidents of anti-social behaviour should contact Police Scotland on 101.”
The area with the highest number of calls for public urination was the Anderston/City/Yorkhill ward, according to Police Scotland records.
The bustling neighbourhoods recorded 10,236 cases since the start of 2016, around five times that of second-placed Calton.
The East End district, known for its Barrowland Ballroom and Barras, saw 2165 crimes during the time period.
Third worst was Langside, in the south, with 838 while Govan, home to Ibrox Stadium, saw 809 calls to police.
Southside Central's 711 crimes saw it finish fifth while the likes of Hillhead (573), Pollokshields (309), and Maryhill(251) were all ranked inside the top ten for most calls to police.
Other regions to see more than 100 crimes reported to police included Linn (164), Springburn (105), and Garscadden (105).
The bottom five was made up of Cardonald, Victoria Park, East Centre, North East, and Baillieston.
The last-placed East End neighbourhood saw only 52 calls to police with the North East only marginally more on 56. East Centre, which includes the likes of Carntyne and Riddrie, was third-bottom with just 62 crimes recorded by police.
