SCOTS celebrities joined the world's biggest virtual Burns Supper to raise £30k for a worthy cause.

The event was streamed live on Monday evening to a global audience of 9000 people who enjoyed performances from famous Scots.

Viewers coined £30k for the Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland (SBH Scotland) charity and enjoyed a poem by Janey Godley as well as a rendition of Auld Lang Syne by Travis front-man Fran Healy.

Other Scottish stars sent messages of support including The Krankies and Joe McFadden. The evening was hosted by former BBC Radio Scotland host Fred MacAulay.

Deborah Roe, fundraising director at SBH Scotland said: “Our 30th Burns Supper was certainly different to what we’d anticipated, but what an evening we had! To have so many people watch on the night was amazing, and to have delivered what we expect to be the world’s biggest charity Burns Supper is some achievement.

"A huge thank you goes to each and every person who has helped to make this happen, including all our fantastic sponsors.”

“Last year was particularly difficult for the charity sector, but we’ve kick-started 2021 with a real show stopping event.

"To have raised £30,000 on our 30th Burns anniversary is amazing, and all proceeds will go towards providing our dedicated services to thousands of children, adults and their families affected by spina bifida and hydrocephalus.”
