AN East End road was locked down this afternoon when "potentially hazardous materials" were found inside a shop.
Firefighters closed a section of Duke Street and cordoned off charity store SPUC when the alarm was raised at around 1pm.
A number of nearby stores were also swooped on by emergency crews who remained on the scene for around four hours while they carried out tests.
However, fire chiefs have now confirmed the shop is safe and they have since left the area.
