A nurse who was training in Glasgow has sadly died after a brave battle with coronavirus

Naggayi Angella passed away on Monday after she slipped into a two-week-long coma.

The 42-year-old mental health nursing student has devastatingly left behind two children, aged eight and 12, that she had been raising on her own.

Her heartbroken children - named John Jeremiah Mugisha and Annmarie Yiga - have described their mum as a "caring person" that loved them both "so much".

John Jeremiah Mugisha said: "Mummy was a nice caring person who loved me so much.”

Annmarie Yiga added: "I love everything about her and miss everything about her.

"I love how she always took time to squeeze in her faith no matter how tired she was.

“In life, we love you dearly, in death we love you still, in our hearts you hold a place no one will ever fill.”

The mother-of-two worked part-time in community integrated care while studying at Edinburgh Napier University.

Over £4000 has since been raised to help the bereaved children and to return their mother's body to her home country.

The fundraiser, set up by organisation Ubuntu Gla, is hoping to raise a total of £10,000.

A tribute reads: "Angella was a devoted mummy to her two loving children who now walk alone, their heads held high, strong in their faith and always guided by the bright light of her deep love.

"Angella was a single mum with no family in the UK; and she relished every moment of her motherly responsibility with utmost dedication.

"She made a trail of memorable friends among children, young people and adults, touching lives and making true friends wherever she went.

"Angella’s only wish until she slipped into a coma two weeks ago was for her children to be happy and successful."
