A RUCHILL teenager who assaulted a nurse following the death of his 20-day-old baby has been jailed.
Darren Leavy turned up at Glasgow Royal Infirmary shortly before midnight on March 7, 2019, to confront staff about their care of the infant.
Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that the 19-year-old, along with two others, behaved in an abusive manner to security staff and nurses.
When Leavy tried to force his way past a security desk he pushed a nurse, causing her to fall to the ground and sustain a "slight injury".
His defence brief told the court his client was "fired up" over his child’s care but that he "went about it the completely wrong way".

The lawyer said: “Mr Leavy’s girlfriend at the time gave birth to a child in the hospital.
"The child only survived for 20 days and then passed away.
"The three who attended at the hospital had concerns of the care given to the child.
“They went about it the completely wrong way.
“He tried to tell the nurses what they thought, and the nurse was trying to tell them it’s not the right way to go about it.
"They were very fired up because they were very angry about what had happened.”
The court was also told that Leavy, whose address was listed as Panmure Street, had turned up to an office on September 7, 2019, around 9pm where he threatened staff.
The prosecutor said: “He started shouting and swearing.
“He was advised he wasn’t permitted to enter. Staff contacted the police due to his level of intoxication.
“Whilst one staff member was on the phone, he pressed the button to disconnect the call.
"He started shouting ‘who the f**k are you phoning?'
“He continued in this matter and failed to desist. Police attended.”
Sheriff Kelly sentenced Leavy to five months for the incident at Glasgow Royal Infirmary to run concurrently with a three month sentence for the office incident.
He said: “I’m genuinely sorry for the loss you experienced, but that is no excuse for you to behave in this way.”
