A SOUTH Side pub is to host a virtual fundraiser in memory of a “beloved regular” who lost her life to cancer.
Patrons of Victoria Bar will come together next month to coin in cash in honour of Claire Hamilton.
The Castlemilk woman was a well-known face in the Victoria Road watering hole and all proceeds from the night will go to Maggie’s Centres cancer charity.

Manager Annie Kane said: “Victoria Bar is a proper community pub, our regulars are what makes it a success and we have become part of each other’s lives, so we have to support them.
“We were extremely saddened by Claire’s passing and wanted to help in any way possible, and with the pub currently shut we wanted to bring the community together virtually to get people interacting and talking again.
“Many of our regulars live on their own and our pub community is a lifeline for them, so this is an opportunity for everyone to come together to raise a glass to Claire and to raise as much money as possible for a worthy cause.”
As well as the Big Night In event, Claire’s daughter Erin Coyle is to take part in Maggie’s Glasgow Run 50 Miles fundraising challenge.

The pub’s virtual get together, on February 13, will include music from local singer Karl Byrne and raffles throughout the evening with all proceeds added to Erin's efforts.
Mark Brooke, director of managed operations at Hawthorn, which manages the bar, said: “We’re proud to be a community pub company, and it’s more important than ever to serve our communities at times like this.
“It’s the sign of a truly great community pub that Victoria Bar can continue to have such a positive impact even when it’s closed, so well done Annie and her team for the fantastic job they’re doing, from all of us at Hawthorn.”
