A coronavirus outbreak at a local McDonald's has sparked a close contact investigation at the fast-food chain.

A number of workers are now self-isolating after two employees tested positive for the virus at East Kilbride Queensway. 

Following the outbreak, management conducted a deep clean of the restaraunt "as a precaution.

A McDonald's spokesman told East Kilbride News: “Two employees at our East Kilbride Queensway restaurant are currently self-isolating after testing positive for COVID-19.

"As soon as we were informed, the restaurant underwent an enhanced clean as a precaution.

"We conducted a close-contact investigation and contacted all restaurant employees as well as Public Health Scotland.

"We have a number of safety measures in place to help keep our people safe, including perspex screens, temperature checks at the start of each shift, maintaining a two-metre distance from others as much as possible, face coverings, regular hand washing and the use of hand sanitiser.”

Shirley Clelland, Head of Fleet and Environmental Services at SLC, added: “Environmental Services has engaged with this and other local businesses in line with the national enforcement strategy for managing business compliance.”
