A YOUTH group’s bid for an outdoor centre in their community has moved forward with a cash promise from the council.
Funding has been secured by East Dunbartonshire Council to build the Twechar Outdoor Pursuits, Training and Education Centre.
The idea originally came from the Twechar Youth Group and the head of the village’s community action group said she was pleased to see “they have been listened to”.
The estimated cost of the project is £1.6m and will create a base for training and voluntary opportunities, according to the council, which hopes the project will promote the regeneration of the area and attract visitors.
