THE creator of a hit BBC Scotland sitcom is to leave after filming his final season of the show.
Joe Hullait announced his retirement from Scot Squad on Twitter this morning, thanking fans for watching over the almost ten years since the programme debuted.
He said: "The latest series of Scot Squad is the last one I'll be working on. After ten years of making the show with a team that now feels like family, it's a huge shame that my final time working in person with them was on a miserable day last March when we had to halt filming due to Covid.

"I'm so proud of the work of everyone involved to complete that series months later.
"I'm sad to be leaving the job of a lifetime but it's wonderful to be going out on such a high."
It comes after the show won its second Bafta last year for Jack Docherty's character Chief Commissioner Cameron Miekelson.
Joe said he was looking forward to a new role and thanked the BBC for "all their support" since the programme's pilot episode in 2012.

"What happens with the series is now a matter for other people to decide. Whatever the future holds, I wish everyone involved the best of luck," he added.
"With or without me, it will keep making people laugh."
