Harsh weather elements brought on by Storm Darcy have caused disruption to the roll-out of the coronavirus vaccination in Glasgow.

Several key bus routes in the city were axed this morning due to the conditions, meaning some would have been unable to attend vaccine appointments.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has said its teams are working to ensure there is "minimal disruption" caused to the jab roll-out.

The local health board has said that it will be in touch with those who have been affected by missed appointments.

Meanwhile, vaccination centres across the city will remain open as normal during Storm Darcy, with patients encouraged to attend appointments only if it is possible.

Jab bookings can be rearranged online, by visiting the NHS Inform website or by calling the COVID-19 vaccine helpline on 0800 030 8013.

Dr Linda De Caestecker, said: “In light of the weather warnings in place affecting areas in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, we’d like to provide reassurance that our local teams are working as hard as possible to ensure minimal disruption to the vaccination rollout.

“Our vaccination centres remain open and patients should try to attend appointments as normal. If there are any changes, someone from the vaccination team will be in touch with affected patients.

“While you should try to make your appointment if possible, you should not put yourself at any additional risk due to the weather. You can rearrange your booking online by visiting the NHS Inform website, or by calling the COVID-19 vaccine helpline on 0800 030 8013.

“Those unable to attend their appointment at their GP for vaccination should contact the practice directly to rearrange.”
