COVID vaccinations should exceed one million in Scotland by the end of today, according to the latest statistics.

Up until 8.30am this morning there had been 985,569 vaccinations given.

Yesterday, the total administered sat at 57,447, the second highest daily total.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said: "Given the severe weather conditions, that is nothing short of extraordinary."

The latest statistics showed there were 803 new cases recorded yesterday, a testing rate of 4.8% of all tests carried out.

The total number of positive cases is now 188,345 since the pandemic started. 

There were 1542 people in hospital, down by 76. The current number is still 22 above the peak last year.

There were 113 patients in intensive care, up by one.

The First Minister said there were 30 people who had been in intensive care for more than 28 days.

Ms Sturgeon said that the number of people experiencing long stays in intensive care is now increasing.

There were 50 deaths registered in the past 24 hours. There have now been a total of 6551 deaths.
