AN APPEAL was launched after city planners shot down proposals for serviced apartments next to King Tut's Wah Wah Hut.

Lets Direct Ltd hoped to concert vacant offices at 266 St Vincent Street into 14 "bespoke" apartments.

The B-listed townhouse was built in the 1820's as part of the Blythswood Estate.

A design statement reads: "Due to skillful design it has been possible to create the serviced apartments within the constraints of the original building."

Permission was refused due to a lack of measures to limit noise coming from King Tut's.

A decision notice by Glasgow City Council planners read: “The proposed development does not include sufficient measures in order to mitigate, minimise or manage the potential effect of noise emanating from the adjacent live music venue.”

Councillors will now make a final decision on the proposal.
