Rangers have shown a different side to their game in recent weeks with three 1-0 victories coming in their last four games.
Steven Gerrard’s team have blown away sides in the Scottish Premiership this season by a number of goals, but they are now showing they can grind out points.
The Ibrox outfit defeated Kilmarnock at home over the weekend and they did so in spectacular fashion as Ryan Jack netted a goal of the season contender from the edge of the box.
The victory means Rangers are within just four games of winning a historic 55th league title and stopping Celtic from reaching 10-in-a-row. Who were the stand outs during Saturday’s win over Killie and who needed to show more?
Here at Rangers Stock Market, our Glasgow Times Sport writers will take you through whose stock has risen and whose has dropped every week as the Light Blues close in on the Scottish Premiership crown.
UP
Ryan Jack
As previously mentioned, what a strike it was from the midfielder to separate the teams at Ibrox on Saturday. The former Aberdeen man has returned from injury seamlessly and he has shown in recent weeks just how important he is to Steven Gerrard’s side.
Jack has improved his overall game under Gerrard and not only is he a box-to-box talent, but his quality on the ball has come on leaps and bounds too. He is key to Rangers starting counter attacks and he will only get better playing alongside the experienced Steven Davis.
Steven Davis
Ryan Jack was a top performer for Rangers on Saturday, but he was pipped to the man of the match award by this man. Davis rolled back the years with a hugely dominant display in the middle of the park against Killie.
Gerrard’s optimism that the Northern Ireland internationalist will sign another contract with Rangers would underline just how valuable he is to the current squad. He pulls the strings from the middle of the park and it is hard to believe he is 36 years of age. A fine wine comes to mind.
Leon Balogun
The big defender came back into Rangers’ backline at the weekend after Filip Helander was given a run of games in alongside Connor Goldson. The Nigerian international has been a brilliant addition for the Light Blues this season and has been one of the standout performers at the back.
Balogun’s manager Gerrard recently told how the defender is close to triggering a Rangers contract extension, which is surely an option the club will explore. Gerrard has six central defenders on his books, but Balogun, alongside Goldson, appear to have formed the strongest defensive partnership this season.

DOWN
Ryan Kent
The former Liverpool man continues to split opinion, but his performance level has certainly dropped from the start of the season. The winger was unplayable during the first quarter of the campaign and he was simply a defender’s nightmare.
Now he appears to be lacking a little confidence after hitting a dry spell in front of goal. The 24-year-old has netted one goal in his last 18, so he will be hoping for a strong end to the season. He clearly has the talent to quickly turn his form around.
Cedric Itten
The target man style striker has been given a run in the team after Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe were forced out through suspension. The Swiss born frontman has netted just one goal since the turn of the year and that will disappoint him.
Itten does offer far more than just goals, with his link up play at the top end of the pitch one of the key features of his game. To retain a starting spot in Gerrard’s team though Itten needs to find the back of the net on a more regular basis.
Bongani Zungu
The South African international was hooked after 60 minutes against Hamilton last week and he dropped out the team all together against Kilmarnock. There is a great fight for places in the middle of the park for Rangers at the moment and the 28-year-old must improve if he wants to cement his spot as a regular starter.
Zungu is currently behind the likes of Ryan Jack, Steven Davis, Scott Arfield and Glen Kamara, so he faces an uphill battle to break through into Gerrard's plans.
