WORK is underway on the final stage of the conversion of a former primary school into flats.
The Shakespeare Street School is in the process of being redeveloped, with 24 private flats being sold before Christmas in one part of the building.
Another 32 are expected to be completed by September 2021.
The Maryhill school’s redevelopment has kept intact the building’s red sandstone exterior and its playground has been converted into gardens for new residents.
Bill Roddie, Spectrum Properties’ managing director, called the Maryhill school a “remarkable building”.
He added: “We are pleased not only to have preserved it but also to have mirrored its architectural qualities and tall windows in the new buildings while remaining in keeping with the surrounding environment.”
