Vicky Miller, who started the fundraiser, wrote: "We would like to help raise money towards the funeral costs and help the family of Neilston's Stephen Quigley.
"Please consider donating, as any amount will truly help his family during this difficult time."
The GoFundMe page has already raised over £950 – well beyond its £600 target.
A flood of heartfelt tributes were paid by Stephen's friends on social media in response to the tragic news.
He was described as "a good friend" and "lovely young man."
Stephen's death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are being carried out by Police Scotland's Major Investigation Team to establish the full circumstances.
It is believed Stephen may have been at an address in the area of Bourock Square, Barrhead, on Tuesday, March 23 and then travelled from this location at around 5pm to the RAH in a blue Ford Focus.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses from either of these areas who may have seen the blue Ford Focus around this time to get in touch.
Police are also keen to view any relevant dashcam footage that may have captured a vehicle of this description being driven erratically or any suspicious activity.
At around 2am on Wednesday, March 24, an assault also took place in Bourock Square and a 26-year-old man was seriously injured.
Anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area at this time is being asked to contact officers.
Detective Chief Inspector Scott McCallum said: "Stephen's family are being provided with support by specialist officers and have been updated. Our thoughts are with them at this time.
"We would urge anyone who believes they may have seen Stephen prior him being found on Wednesday morning to please get in touch as soon as possible.
"In particular, we are keen to speak to anyone who may have been driving near to the hospital, or in the area of Bourock Square, Barrhead, around 5pm on Tuesday, 23 March, and saw a blue Ford Focus.
"Anyone who can help our enquiries is asked to call 101, quoting reference number 0409 of March 24. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be called anonymously on 0800 555 111."
Stephen is described as being white, slim and around 5ft 10in tall with short dark hair.
