A THUG pressed his lover’s eye so hard she thought it was going to explode.

Sharaz Moad attacked the woman at a friend’s house in Bishopbriggs on June 28 2020.

The drunk 35-year-old lashed out due to an argument over sleeping arrangements.

Moad repeatedly punched and kicked the woman on the body while she was holding a three-year-old boy.

He pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to the assault to the woman’s injury.

He also admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner, breaching bail conditions and giving false details to police.

Moad, of Bishopbriggs, was ordered to do 300 hours of unpaid work and put under supervision for two years.

He was further tagged for six months keeping him indoors between 7pm and 7am except on a Wednesday and Thursday where it is 9pm and 7am due to work commitments.

The court heard the victim had told Moad to sleep in the living room but he refused.

Prosecutor Hannah Sweeney said: “She told Moad to leave and he refused.

“He punched her on the head while the boy was lying beside her on the bed.

“She jumped out of bed while naked and lifted the child and went to get help as she feared for her and the boy’s safety.

“Moad shouted, grabbed her by the hair and repeatedly punched her on the head and body while she held the boy in her arms.

“She pleaded for him to stop before he put his thumb in her right eye.

“Moad pressed so hard that she felt as though her eyeball was going to burst.”

Moad threatened he was going to kill her and called her a "cow".

She was taken to hospital suffering from bruising and swelling to her right eye.

Gerry Devanney, defending, told the court the relationship with the woman is over.

Sheriff McCormick told Moad: “This was an extremely serious assault on your former partner.”
