A THUG who strangled his lover after she wanted to end their relationship was jailed yesterday for 11 months.
Garry Welsh turned on the woman at the Citizen M Hotel in Glasgow city centre on November 7, 2020.
The 24-year-old had carried out an earlier attack which prompted talk of a break up.

Welsh choked and punched the woman which left her with a bloody nose and bruises.
Welsh pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to the assault to the woman’s injury and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.
He also admitted resisting, obstructing or hindering police officers by struggling violently with them.
The court heard Welsh and the woman were initially in a relative's room at the hotel.
Welsh became angry at his lover of five years then grabbed and shook her.
The couple returned to their own room where the woman spoke about them splitting up.
Prosecutor Pamela-Jane Connelly said: “Welsh took a dislike to this and tried to control her by taking her money, phone and belongings.
“He punched her on the face causing injuries to her nose and bleeding.
“He grabbed her by the neck and choked her then punched her to the face and body.
“When the attack stopped, she fled the room but Welsh followed her, caught up with her and dragged her.”

Hotel staff intervened and separated the pair before a 999 call was made.
Welsh continued to act aggressively and repeatedly struck out at police officers who tried to handcuff him.
The woman fortunately escaped with minor injuries.
Peter Farrell, defending, told the court the relationship has ended and Welsh is remorseful.
Sheriff Martin Jones QC also imposed a three-year non-harassment order banning Welsh from contacting the woman.
