AN attempted murder probe has been launched after armed cops surrounded a car parked outside a supermarket. 

The motor had fled the scene after mounting the pavement and hitting a pedestrian in Pollokshaws Road yesterday ar around 3pm.

The 35-year-old victim was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University hospital for treatment. He was released following treatment.

Cops tracked the motor down to the car park of a Newton Means Aldi and surrounded it with armed officers as a helicopter circled overhead.

Police are now treating the incident as attempted murder and are hunting the culprit. 

A police spokesman said: “Around 3pm on Tuesday, April 13, police were called to Pollokshaws Road in Glasgow, following reports a car had mounted the pavement and struck a pedestrian, before driving from the scene.

"The pedestrian, a 35-year-old man, was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment and was later released.

“The car was traced in Greenlaw Way and officers carried out searches in the area for the occupants, with no result.

“The incident is being treated as an attempted murder and there was no threat to the wider public. Officers are following a positive line of enquiry.”
