A RACIST support worker has lost her job after making a shocking comment to her colleague.

Alexandra Kenney, who was employed by Quarriers Glasgow Sole Project, made the comment to her co-worker in 2018 while they were discussing their neighbours.

During the conversation, Kennedy suggested that people from Pakistan should be "shot and sent back to their own country".

While they were discussing the location of another Quarriers service, Kennedy said: "There's a lot of Asians there".

On another occasion, Kenney said, "this area is full of P**** and they should be sent back to their own country".

And, on a separate day, while talking to her colleague, she declared: "I don't like Muslims".

The matters have since been taken up by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), who found her comments to be racially motivated and Islamophobic.

The SSSC report reads: "You made comments that were discriminatory in nature and were racially offensive. These comments could cause emotional harm and offence to others.

"This type of behaviour is serious and falls below the standard expected of a social services worker.

"It is necessary to make a finding of impairment to your fitness to practise to maintain public confidence and uphold proper standards of behaviour and conduct."

Kenny claimed that she was "trying to express a political view" that came in the aftermath of a terrorist attack that "upset" and "angered" her.

The SSSC placed the support worker with a warning on her registration for a period of 21 months.

Although she was not removed from the care register, Kenney was later dismissed by Quarriers following the company's own disciplinary procedures.

Andy Williamson, Deputy Chief Executive and Service Director of Quarriers said: “Racist abuse is not tolerated at Quarriers.

"We were made aware of allegations in September 2018 and reported this immediately to the SSSC for investigation.

"Alexandra Kenney’s employment with Quarriers was terminated three weeks later in October 2018 following our own disciplinary procedures.”
