A MAN will stand trial accused of assaulting his pregnant girlfriend.

Allan Halliday, 23, allegedly punched the woman to the head and body at an address in the west of Glasgow.

Prosecutors state Halliday also kicked her on the head and body as well as put her in a headlock.

Halliday is accused of dragging her hair outside and leaving her there.

He is further stated to have placed his hands round the woman’s neck and over her nose and mouth which restricted her breathing.

Halliday allegedly behaved in a threatening or abusive manner towards the woman by calling her derogatory names and threatening to blow up her home if she went to the police.

Halliday faces a separate charge of engaging in a course of abuse towards another ex-partner.

He allegedly repeatedly questioned her where she had been and told her what to wear.

Halliday is further accused of telling her what to wear, cause her to resign from her job and controlling her finances.

Allegations also include causing her not to eat for several days and compressing her neck with his hands restricting her breathing.

Halliday is accused of attacking a three-year-old boy by dragging his arm, pinching his ears and refusing to take him to the toilet.

The seven charges span from January 2016 to January 2021 in the city’s Drumchapel, Methil, Scotstoun, Knightswood and Easterhouse.

Halliday, of the city’s Darnley, pleaded not guilty yesterday at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

A trial was set for November by Sheriff Alan Mackenzie.
